We feature transformations of all types—fat loss, muscle gain, strength improvements, body recomposition, athletic performance, and recovery from injury. There's no minimum weight loss or gain required. What matters most is your dedication, consistency, and the story behind your transformation.
Natural Transformations Only: LeanFFMI is committed to showcasing realistic, achievable results for natural lifters. We do not feature enhanced transformations to maintain honest expectations for our community. If you're unsure whether your transformation qualifies, please submit anyway and we'll review it.

Once you submit your transformation, here's what happens next:
We receive many transformation submissions and can only feature a selection that best represents diverse journeys, training approaches, and body types. If your transformation isn't selected for immediate publication, it doesn't diminish your achievement—you should be incredibly proud of your hard work and results regardless of featuring status.

No minimum weight loss or gain is required. We feature transformations of all magnitudes—from 10 lbs lost to 100+ lbs lost, from gaining 5 lbs of lean muscle to 30+ lbs. What matters most is consistency, dedication, and the lessons learned during your journey. We aim to showcase diverse transformations that demonstrate sustainable, evidence-based approaches to fitness regardless of the absolute numbers.
Minimum 3 months for consideration. We prefer transformations spanning 6-12+ months as these better demonstrate sustainable approaches and realistic expectations. Transformations under 3 months often represent rapid weight loss through crash dieting or initial "newbie gains" that don't reflect long-term sustainability. There's no maximum timeframe—multi-year transformations showing consistent progress are especially valuable for demonstrating patience and persistence.
Using legal, safe supplements like protein powder, creatine, pre-workout, BCAAs, multivitamins, or fish oil is perfectly acceptable—these are considered natural. We're specifically excluding anabolic steroids, SARMs, pro-hormones, and other performance-enhancing drugs. If you're uncertain whether a supplement you used qualifies, please mention it in your submission and we'll review on a case-by-case basis. Transparency is appreciated.
Yes! We love ongoing transformation stories, especially those demonstrating significant progress over 6+ months even if you haven't reached your final goal. Submission doesn't require completion—it requires meaningful progress worth celebrating. If you've lost 40 lbs of your 60 lb goal, or gained 15 lbs of muscle toward your 25 lb target, your journey is absolutely worth sharing. Include your future goals in the submission.
Photos should be clear, well-lit, and show your full body. Best practices: (1) Take photos in the same location with similar lighting for before/after; (2) Wear minimal clothing (bikini, shorts, sports bra) to accurately show body composition changes; (3) Use relaxed poses, not flexed unless comparing flexed to flexed; (4) Include front, side, and back views for comprehensive comparison; (5) No filters, editing, or manipulation—authentic photos only. Smartphone photos are perfectly acceptable as long as they're clear and well-lit. We accept JPG, PNG, or HEIC formats up to 5MB per photo.
By default, we only display your first name and general location (city/state or country). Your email address is never shared publicly. If you want your full name displayed, check the consent box in the form. You maintain control over your privacy—you can request we use only initials, a nickname, or remove identifying information entirely if preferred. Featured transformations typically show: "John, 28, Los Angeles" or "Sarah, 32, UK" rather than full names.
No, submissions must come directly from the person who achieved the transformation. We require first-person stories to ensure authenticity, consent, and accurate details. If you know someone with an inspiring transformation, encourage them to submit directly! They'll need to provide the photos, stats, and personal story—only they can authentically share their journey, challenges, and lessons learned.
Estimates are perfectly acceptable—most people don't have precise DEXA scan data. You can use visual comparison charts, navy method calculations, or smart scale estimates. If you're unsure, leave it blank or provide a range (e.g., "15-18%"). What's more important is relative change: if you started noticeably overweight and ended lean, that's obvious from photos regardless of exact percentages. Body weight, strength improvements, and photos tell most of the story.
You'll receive an automated confirmation email immediately upon submission. Our team reviews submissions within 3-7 business days. If your transformation is selected for featuring, we'll email you within 1-2 weeks with next steps and confirm details before publishing. If you haven't heard back within 2 weeks, your submission likely wasn't selected for immediate publication, though it may be considered for future featuring. High-quality submissions that aren't immediately published remain in our database for potential future features.
Yes, you maintain control over your content. If your transformation is featured and you'd like to update your story, add new progress photos, or request removal entirely, simply contact us at transformations@leanffmi.com. We'll honor removal requests within 48 hours. Updates to your story (adding new progress, updating goals) are welcomed—transformation journeys continue evolving and we love featuring ongoing progress updates for previously featured members.
